JOIN IN NOW – ACTION TODAY CHANGES TOMORROW!
WHAT IS THE “TUG-OF-WAR”?
Our children are increasingly exposed to: alcohol, drugs, bullying, sexual activity, peer pressure, divorce, HIV/ AIDS, crime, pornography and other challenges – and even the “strongest” teens are often vulnerable. Parents face their own challenges (communication, single-parenting, enforcing boundaries, marital, financial or other stresses) and often struggle to navigate some of these trickier years.
Life Talk Tug-of-War is an awareness-building initiative that tackles these challenges, and provides suggestions for addressing them in a practical and proactive manner. The initiative’s ultimate aim is to galvanize families, schools, corporates, the media and society into action. It’s about winning the “tug-of-war” that is taking place in our children’s lives.
Many parents ask:
- How do we prepare our children (and ourselves) for all the challenges?
- What do we do if we find ourselves in one of these dilemmas?
- How can we help to create a world that we’ll be happy to have our children enter?
Many of the worrying trends are symptoms of bigger issues – so we need to understand what’s happening, why and what to do (and where to ‘tug’).
Let’s all pull together – Let’s create that great tomorrow!

WOULD YOUR COMPANY LIKE TO SUPPORT THE TUG-OF-WAR?
The more corporates and other organizations get involved, the faster we can expand the awareness-building to have a significant impact on society. There are two ways of being involved:
- “Supporter”: This entails such aspects as: promoting the initiative within the company; putting a link to our website; mentioning the Tug-of-War in company newsletters; displaying posters; hosting Life Talk talks; and other suitable ways.
- “Sponsor”: Being a Sponsor includes sponsoring specific aspects of the Tug-of-War initiative such as: PR/advertising to help promote the initiative; Brochures; Stickers/posters; Talks by Life Talk facilitators; sponsoring Life Talk books into disadvantaged communities; IT expertise; Internet; Accounting; Travel; Cell phones; Stationery; Psychologists’ time in answering writers’ questions; other aspects.
For three years the Life Talk Forum and initiatives have been funded solely by the author of the Life Talk™ books, and since July 2009 some funding received from the ARA has enabled the expansion of the initiatives. So any other sponsorships will enable further expansion and will make an even greater difference to our youth, and to society.
